Dr Abdurrahim Elashaal, MD, FRCS Ireland, FRCS Canada

Dr. Elashaal trained in Ireland with a double fellowship from the Royal College Surgeons in Neurosurgery (FRCS Ireland & FRCS Canada). He finished his double sub-specialty training at St. Michael Hospital and Toronto University. The first fellowship is in skull base and vascular neurosurgery and the second one is in complex spinal neurosurgery.

He developed a special interest in endoscopic neurosurgery (intraventricular pathology), including endoscopic pituitary surgery, as well as surgical management of trigeminal neuralgia, brain and spinal tumours, vascular lesions, hydrocephalus and minimally invasive and endoscopic spinal surgery, and complex spinal surgery fusion.

He is currently working at Windsor Regional Hospital with a particular interest in teaching and curriculum development for postgraduate training in neurosurgery. He is the founder and the director of the fellowship program in Windsor (Spinal and Neurosurgery fellowship). He is also a member of the RPC (Residency Program Committee) in London’s neurosurgery training program since 2020 and oversees the neurosurgery resident’s training during their Windsor rotation blocks.

He is also actively involved in teaching the undergrad and postgrad medical students, NPs and nursing students, with increased capacity for new and existing research projects in neurosciences.
